HISTORY

Quietly nestled within the Lost Coast of California, rolling hills and tall pines hugged by the Pacific Ocean, provided home to ranchers and miners who would pioneer what began as Slab Town in the late 1800’s. These ranchers and miners began building homes by way of horse-powered mill, furnished with carefully made home supplies and sundries. Once established through lumber, ranching, and mining, Slab Town was officially named Cambria in the 1960’s.

Slabtown Mercantile - opened in August of 2019 - provides heirloom quality homegoods, supplies, and sundries, to pay homage to the life in which Cambria was built. We strive to support our local economy and carefully source every handmade product to ensure the small businesses we work with value sustainability and ethical working standards as much as we do.

Visit us in Cambria, CA and take a step back in time, learn about the Central Coasts roots, and support small businesses!
